Consultants from Vet Helpline India were invited to participate in a policy workshop organized by GALVmed (Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines) in Nairobi, Kenya from June 12-13, 2014. GALVmed is a not-for-profit product development and adoption partnership that seeks to make a real difference to the livelihoods of resource-poor livestock keepers by facilitating provision of animal health tools, within a sustainable economic framework. The workshop was mainly aimed at seeking feedback and validation of findings from a policy landscape study in Africa sponsored by GALVmed. The study focused on actors in the provision of livestock health product and service delivery in 12 African countries and evaluated the environment for private sector participation in livestock product and service delivery to poor people in remote rural areas. Besides invitee consultants and representatives from GALVmed, the workshop was attended by 23 stakeholders from all the study countries viz. Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, DR Congo, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, Nigeria and Ghana. It is to be noted that Vet Helpline India was selected recently by GALVmed to conduct similar studies in South Asia.
